Stacy offers a variety of edits for picture book writers and businesses, including copy edits, line edits, and developmental edits for all internal and external communications.
Stacy Burch is a traditionally published children's author for books ranging from picture books to middle grade novels. Her debut picture book, A Way With Words, releases August 2022 and her second picture book, SEARCHING FOR SLEEP, releases October 2022 - both with Ethicool Books. She earned her B.A. in English and a B.S. in Secondary Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. As a high school English teacher for 10+ years, she happily created stories, edited papers, and fostered budding young minds before receiving her M.A. in Secondary English Curriculum Design from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV.
Stacy and her husband moved to Brussels, Belgium where they were fortunate to travel the world. During this time, Stacy taught English at the College of Advertising and Design (CAD) and edited the college's internal and external communications before returning to the USA. Thanks to their passion for regenerative agriculture, Stacy, her husband, and their three young children are hoping to start a sustainable, family mini farm. When not writing stories, chasing kids, or freelance editing, Stacy presents (virtually and in-person) on various topics, such as the creative writing process, curriculum design for the modern child, and methods for teaching mindfulness to children.
As a former teacher and current children's author, Stacy is passionate about presenting to kids! She is available for short or long presentations for pre-k through 12th grade, ranging from 30 minutes to full school days. These visits can be in-person or virtual.
Fun and engaging presentations are flexible and can be tailored per audience but typically include some combination of the following: pre/post-reading activity, reading (whole book or sample), Q&A, book signing, and/or whole group discussion.
The writing process: how to generate ideas, create story structure, and revision.
The path to publication: all steps from ideas to finished product
How we communicate: the importance of communication in all its forms, including nonverbal.
My mindful day: how to use mindfulness, meditation, and visualization in a child's daily routine.
Don't see a discussion topic that suits your needs? No worries! Contact Stacy to create a custom presentation.
* Book sales not required; however, personalized books can be
ordered in advance from school's preferred vendor.
